Gore & the Nobel Peace Prize

... should never be in the same sentence. But they were, in Gore's quest finally vindicated (AP, 2007-10-13):

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- For years, former Vice President Al Gore and a host of climate scientists were belittled and, worst of all, ignored for their message about how dire global warming is.

I just about spit out my breakfast when I read that opening sentence. You have got to be kidding me!

Just in case Seth Borenstein and Lisa Leff of the Associated Press have any brain cells left (or are done counting their money from planting a press release in national news), here are some clues.

  • A "documentary" that wins 2 Academy Awards and is widely talked about does not qualify as an ignored message.
  • The former VP and the "host of climate scientists" were not ignored, they were celebrated, feted, listened to, and drowned out any actual scientific content of this "phenomenom." There used to be a debate. They did not win. They just ignored rationality. (Read Michael Crichton's State of Fear for just how far away from reality Gore and the chickens little are.)

I am seriously considering dropping my newspaper subscription. I pay for news, not for shallowly-disguised polemics.

Don't take my word for it, either.
