Residents Talk - and sometimes they should shut up

Opened up my copy of the Bellevue, WA It's Your City newspaper for October 2007, wholly government-written and taxpayer-funded, and chock-full of press releases of all the good things government does for us.

Read this doozy of a comment in the "Residents Talk" section:

What actions people can take [sic] to help the environment?

Richard Bales: "Fewer people. Fewer humans on earth. One live birth per woman, no more. But it shouldn't be retroactive, since my wife has three children from a previous marriage."

The picture of Mr. Richard Bales makes it plain that he is either retired or close to it.

I keep trying to come up with a pithy comment worthy of startling that doddering old fool, without actually coming out and saying "instead, why don't you drop dead, you arrogant self-righteous leathered leach?"

Oops. Just said it.

Well, that is my opinion...
