Cringely on Outsourcing, Part Deux

In Conscientious Objector (The U.S. Military is Busily Outsourcing Its Core IT Services, but Would a Really Disciplined Outfit Like Wal-Mart Do the Same?), Robert X. Cringely points out that effective businesses will never outsource mission-critical services.

To that, I will add an effective business will never outsource its primary product or service. I leave it as an exercise to the reader to divine the drawbacks.

Let's put that in terms that, say, someone who brags about coding and has been promoted to their level of incompetence would understand.

Effective, profitable business != outsourcing primary product or service

Got it?
