Good read - Until Death Do Us Part

Just finished Until Death Do Us Part (e-book ISBN:0060504625) by Ingrid Betancourt.

Fascinating, heartbreaking and hopeful autobiography of Betancourt's rise as a Colombian legislator. The sheer scope of the corruption and audacity of the government officials who profit from it is breathtaking. Betancourt was apparently one of the very few (count on a single hand) elected to the House and then the Senate to fight this. She made it her campaign theme (just one theme, folks), and managed to break voting records - an unknown young woman (early thirties), without drug cartel backing, getting a significant popular vote.

She was dangerous enough that she and her campaign manager were kidnapped by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) on Saturday, February 23, 2002. To date she is still missing, and potentially already murdered.
