Because it was Monday...

  • Because it was Monday my son woke up me up at 2 a.m.
  • Because it was Monday I stayed in bed half-asleep for half an hour after my alarm went off.
  • Because it was Monday I switched the sloped table that is my only work surface with a level table, myself.
  • Because it was Monday some maintenance guy in a nearby room spent hours telling his buddy exactly how bankruptcy works, which credit card companies screwed him over, and how many families in $2 million homes are now living in poverty. Hours.
  • Because it was Monday I saw a profile of the side business of one of my former coworkers featured on News.com. My former employer hired him a few months before laying me off. He didn't need the job, he said in the interview. He just wanted to continue working with the CEO, he said in the interview. I needed the job, I didn't say to the CEO when she laid me off. He still has his job. I had to find a level table myself.
  • Because it was Monday the man sitting next to me answered his phone by yelling "Hi! How are you doing!"
  • Because it was Monday the man sitting next to me conducted his personal conversation very loudly while sitting next to me. Very loudly.
  • Because it was Monday some idiot parked his very wide, rather expensive sports car so close to my car that I had to crawl in through the passenger door.
  • Because it was Monday my daughter threw a tantrum over what she would wear outside.
  • Because it was Monday my order of pork yakisoba became an order of pork teriyaki.
  • Because it was Monday my son puked out his first taste of rice. And half of his dinner.
  • Because it was Monday I wondered.
