Thank goodness the "anti-war" marchers stayed on their island

Vashon Island, to be specific. Choice quotes from A Mother's Day call for peace, Seattle PI for 2006-05-15:

"A kid in Nepal, a kid in Iraq, a kid on Vashon. They all have mothers. They're all loved," said Rubardt, a global health care consultant.

"Kids who don't look like us are demonized. Then you can do whatever you want to them. You can make war."

Yes, but some Iraqi mothers raise their children to become homicide bombers, guerrillas, terrorists, and to hate Iraqis of other religions. But hey, they don't look like us, so they must be innocent, right?

"The emphasis should be on creation rather than destruction, the arts instead of warfare," said Cosmo Harrigan, 18, wearing a colorful jester cap and dark, paisley pants.

If I buy you a ticket to Iraq, will you set up your easel on a street corner and draw caricatures? Maybe that will stop the car bombings and beheadings.
