Newsweek mistakes hate group for "activists"

In Newsweek's 2003-11-17 "Souls Divided" article (no permalink, thanks to the prevalence and virulence of ads on MSNBC, its host, as well as a locked archive), the secondary picture featured an older man and woman holding signs stating "fag", "fag church", and "fags dominate the clergy."

Repetitious, aren't they.

I did some research because I wanted to feature this disgusting display. A bit of searching turned up the fact that these folks are from some church in Kansas that - well, let's say its a church by the IRS definition only - in all other respects they are a hate group. Their tactics are disgusting, their hatred sickening - and their opponents are better people.

Yes, this group with the repetive signage (I'm pulling a Lord Voldemort by not naming them) is filled with hatred - but their opponents and many of their targets are filled with love, and will not be deterred.
