Insert inflammatory anti-Muslim comment here

I almost titled this entry "Muslim men are all rapists, says Muslim" but I couldn't bring myself to do it. But I am happy to repeat this incredibly disturbing story.

In The Straits Times' "PAS leader draws flak for linking lipstick use to rape":

Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, the spiritual leader of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party or PAS, was quoted by the Malay-language Mingguan Malaysia newspaper as saying that even women who wear Muslim headscarves can arouse men if they wear makeup and perfume too. The end result could be rape or molestation.

I leave it as a reader exercise to understand how out-of-control Muslim men must be for one of their own to publicly state this. I will point out that that this quote was from a "Malay-language" newspaper, which explains the next bit:

Mr Anwar Bakri, a senior adviser of Datuk Nik Aziz, confirmed he made the comments, but said they were reported out of context.

Of course it was taken out of context: it was reported in English for the whole world to read. The things that Malaysians get away with saying in Malay-language papers is almost unbelievable. What is truly unbelievable, as well as funny, is that they (apparently) think no one else will read it.

One of my pet projects is to get subscriptions to newspapers like these, translate them, and post them in an Internet-accessible archive, for the whole world to see.

In the meantime, I'll happily report these stories here. And politely suggest that if the US wants to limit Islamic immigration, they should take Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat's comments to heart and prevent rapists from entering the country.
