Is the title for this article on Techdirt about Businesweek's commentary on freelance journalists who fund their own news-gathering.
Techdirt notices that BW gets it wrong. BW calls it "pay-to-read journalism" - neglecting the fact that my newspaper, delivered to my doorstep every morning, is also "pay-to-read". The article actually is about "pay-to-write" journalism - a newsie wants to investigate a story, advertises that fact, and gets funding from people who want the news. Story doesn't get written unless the journalist is funded.
