Linda Averill, a member of the Freedom Socialist Party (ed: link added), has asked the city's Ethics and Elections Commission to give her an exemption to the disclosure rule. She said her contributors could face threats or harassment if their connection to her party is made public. "It might discourage people from contributing to my campaign if they know their name is posted on a Web site for everyone to see," said Averill.
She goes on to say:
"We want to tax the corporate profits of companies like Starbucks, Nordstrom and Amazon," she said. "We are going to get the money for the working-class people."
The only threat you may see against your donors is intellectual.
