Illegal immigration, lawful deportation

Rich Lowry, editor of the National Review, had a column in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer today (2003-06-11), but I cannot find a web link to it. Oh well.

"Illegals deporting themselves" talked about the wave of illegal immigrants choosing to leave the US because they see the government cracking down.

I wholeheartedly support illegal immigrants leaving, by choice or not. They're here illegally. You want to stay legally, go through the INS bureacracy just like my wife did - legal and above-board. You don't have a right to stay in this country without permission.

Just as I don't have a right to stay in any other country illegally...
