Have a bake sale instead

From "Legislative Update from Representative Geoff Simpson: April 13th, 2003" - he is a Washington State (US) Legislature reprensentative.

This plan also includes a vehicle transfer tax of .46 percent of the cost, a 15 percent trucking surcharge and a $20 license plate fee for motorists who want to keep their same license plate number for more than 7 years. (emphasis mine)

Let me see if I understand this. You're going to charge people to keep the same license plate number for more than 7 years? Why in the world would I care about the license plate on my car? It's not my phone number, it's not my address, it's not my Ponzi Scheme Number (I mean, my Social Security Number). You can change it four times a year if you want - but you damn well better not charge me some fricking fee when you change it!

And from his e-newsletter (he used to be my representative, but he's the only pol to ever use e-mail, so I keep the subscription just out of novelty), I'm living in the 7th largest city in this state, and recently moved from the 8th largest city.
